Lake Quinault Lodge is located in one of only three temperate rain forests in North America. Receiving an average of 12 feet of rain per year, Lake Quinault is truly a special place. Translated in the Quinault dialect as “the lake between two rivers,” Lake Quinault is a masterpiece carved by glaciers millions of years ago. We offer a wide variety of activities at the lodge. An abundance of hiking trails and many world record conifer trees should be explored while staying in the area.
The original lodge was built on this property in 1897. When that log structure burned a new lodge was planned and designed by thearchitect who designed the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. This main lodge was built in 1926 at a cost of $90,000.
Amazingly the main lodge was built in only 53 days. Two 24 man crews worked around the clock to complete the lodge before winter set in. A few artifacts remain from the original lodge, including the piano in the lobby, the safe down stairs in the recreation room, and the
bricks in the present fireplace.
