                                                                      Local Beaches

                                                                      Kalaloch Beach
                                                                      Enjoy the flat white sand of Kalaloch beach, great for kite flying, running, or taking a leisurely stroll.

                                                                      Beach Four
                                                                      Perfect location for tidal life. Take the short trail down to the beach and turn north to the rocky outcrops. Five miles north of Kalaloch Lodge

                                                                      Ruby Beach
                                                                      Best beach for photography. Enjoy a sunset or explore the sea stacks at low tide. Eight miles north of Kalaloch Lodge.

                                                                      Kalaloch Nature Trail
                                                                      This half mile loop trail takes you through a coastal forest with views of Kalaloch Creek as it winds toward the ocean. To get there follow Highway 101 north on the west side of the road until you pass the bridge crossing Kalaloch Creek. A few more steps will take you into the campground for a short walk where it will turn back toward and cross to the east side of the highway. Do not attempt to by-pass the campground as walking along the east side of the highway is dangerous and the journey will not be quicker.

                                                                      Rainforest Day Trips

                                                                      Lake Quinault Area
                                                                      28 miles south of Kalaloch, enjoy, enjoy the vast network of trails around Lake Quinault. Many trails start from the Lake Quinault Lodge as well as the 30 mile rain forest loop drive. Cool off on the beach and enjoy the tranquility around the lodge grounds. Lake Quinault Lodge also offers canoe or kayak rentals, and boat tours, as well as guided tours and walks deep into the heart of the Quinault rainforest.

                                                                      Hoh Rain Forest
                                                                      Twenty four miles from Kalaloch Lodge will take you into the heart of one of three temperate rainforests in the United States, all of which are located on the Olympic Peninsula. Explore the interpretive nature trails or walk the Hoh River Trail perhaps stopping for a picnic along the beautiful Hoh River. The more adventurous hiker can hike the entire Hoh River Trail 17.4 miles to where it ends at Glacier Meadows with stunning views of Mt. Olympus and Blue Glacier. Overnight backpacking permits are required - check the ranger station for availability.


                                                                      Rialto Beach

                                                                      A longer trip, 45 miles north of Kalaloch, will bring you to Rialto Beach. With strong crashing surf and picturesque sea stacks this will be well worth the trip.

                                                                      Hurricane Ridge

                                                                      For the adventure seekers who love the mountains explore Hurricane Ridge, with views of the entire Olympic Range, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and if you bring your binoculars, views of Victoria Canada. This trip would require a full day from Kalaloch Lodge, in order enjoy the splendor of Hurricane Ridge at a more leisurely pace. On your way back, visit Sol Duc Hot Spring Resort where after a day of hiking you can relax in the natural hot springs.

                                                                      Lake Crescent

                                                                      See beautiful Lake Crescent with its incredible blue water. The lake sinks to a depth of 624 feet and is actually 24 feet below sea level. The lake at its closest is less than five miles from the Strait of Juan de Fuca and has zero traces of salt water. The steep mountains that contain the lake rise up almost 1,500 feet above lake level. Explore the Marymere Falls Trail, passing trees with 35 foot circumference trunks, ending

                                                                      in a stunning 90-foot water fall. Read about the legend of the “Storm King” who became upset at the fighting between the Klallam and Quileute Tribes. This mountain spirit hurled a boulder down, separating the two tribes and killing the warriors. His boulder dammed the river, which backed up forming Lake Crescent. Geological history shows that a large land slide divided Lake Crescent and Lake Sutherland,
